Bart Delicatessen proudly brings you a range of specially grown single estate peppercorns and tea. This range includes Black, White, Red and Green Peppercorns, as well as Green Tea.
The Poabs estate, which stands for P.O Abraham and Sons, lies in the Nelliyampathy Hills in the Kerala state of India and lies on a plateau 3500 feet above sea level.
The estate is 100% organic and the land, people, animals and plants live together in an incredible biodynamic eco-system. 300 cattle are kept on the farm to help maintain the people and crops. The cattle produce an average of 3000 tonnes of dung each year, which is then used to make organic manure. Only natural feed is used on the farm and no chemical fertilizers are used on the land. Accelerated aerobic composting of organic waste and cow dung produce enriched bio-manure.

Biodynamic agriculture practices are used to maximise the health of the crops, and self-sustainability is achieved by the bio-cycle of natural waste products. Years of history and knowledge have been drawn on to perfect the crops. Even the cattle horns are used, by filling them with manure and buried for various periods of time to ensure the plants are kept healthy and pesticide free. This unique eco-system nurtures the land, crops and cattle in this mountain oasis. A series of dams have been built around the farm to irrigate the land and the highly fertile silt is applied to areas to enable regeneration of the land. The plantation is on the highest ground in the area which ensures that no other effluent of polluted water can enter the eco-system.
A dedicated band of workers work with a passion and energy that is breathtaking. They make sure every last detail is taken care of and traditional methods are undertaken with care and understanding. The plantation not only provides a source of income for the people, but also ensures that health, welfare and education are provided. The Poabs estate also funds both a chapel and temple for the workers.
